Michael married lifelong resident Ingrid (Achenberg) at Kimisis Tis Theotokou Greek Orthodox Church in Holmdel in 2002. They currently reside in the Old Manor section of town with their two sons, William and Theodore and their rescued dogs, Chester and Cole. His parents Bill and Christine Nikolis live in the Cedar Village Active Adult Community. Michael’s in-laws, Leonard and Beverly Achenberg have resided in Holmdel since 1972.
Michael Nikolis is also the current president of Holmdel First Aid. Since 2002, Michael has volunteered his time as an active EMT with the First Aid Squad. Answering over a thousand calls for help and dedicating thousands of hours to various leadership positions within the squad, Michael has served as the Squad president for the past nine years.
In 2010, Michael was tasked with leading the Holmdel Environmental Commission due to his work in his family's multi-generations in the NYC floral industry, his membership in the NJ Audubon Society and the Theodore Roosevelt Association of Sagamore Hill.
Michael graduated from Kean University in 1996 with a B.S. in Management and began working in his family's flower business in New York City.
After briefly working at Morristown Memorial Hospital, Michael continued his love of helping people by joining the Rockaway Township Fire Department.
